A Vertical Garden Made from DIY Stackable Planters

part1, today we're going to make stackable planters so you can turn into a vertical. garden here is what, you need to get started a 2 by 10 some two. by fours some deck boards I use, the tropical hardwood but you could use cedar. or redwood as well stainless steel screws wire mesh and, some 6 millimeter plastic sheeting. now for power tools all you really need is a circular saw and, a cordless. drill we're. going to start this project by cutting the two by 10 now I. use, this speed square to help the guide to circular saw when I make the. cut and you can, find all the measurements for this. the link that's right over my shoulder, now when I'm cutting a shorter distance like. for those deck boards and a two by four I, don't need to use the. speed square the saw doesn't have as far to travel so keeping it, in the. straight line is a lot easier now I use a. circular saw works just fine but if. you, want to make a lot of these planters I recommend using a compound miter. saw that's a little, bit easier at right angles and it's a lot faster the. deck boards now I'm going to cut the deck boards so, I want to pre-drill the holes before I. screw them to the, deck boards you can use, a. 2x4 as a spacer to make sure that, the top and bottom boards are nice and. square, to now screw in the middle board we'll leave about a quarter inch of. space between, the bottom of the 2 by tens and. the top of the deck board so, you can make sure, that everything is nice and square once you have made sure that everything. square once I'm making sure that the, top and the bottom boards of the planter was. meshed that's just in case that there's, a tear in the plastic I'm, going to put the plastic. sheeting right into the, wood with a staple gun now we do want the planters. to drain water so I'm just going to use this to drain the water out of the, planter with a screwdriver I'm also going to, put some holes, through the plastic sheeted right along the bottom. of the. planter so I can, put the screws into the holes I made with the screwdriver and, I did a test fit with a. screwdriver so now that the plastic is stapled in I was ready to fill them with soil. and, put in the plant you can stack these planter like giant building blocks but. I also want to, make a garden wall that had straight sides so I made. side panels that would fit in as, well these basic modular planters you can build. all sorts of different vertical gardens for more detailed instructions, check out my website and. be sure to follow me on social media you, so now 2 poles are pre, drilled and. ready, to start assembly so I started to put a screw into the hole and. then screw the bottom, deck boards onto the 2x2 I want, leave it in. two and a half of space between the two. board boards so what I did was, I made sure the, the plastic that was going to be on top of, the, plastic that's going to go on the bottom, of the, planter and that's, the mesh that I used to line up the plastic at the, bottom of, on the, board so I, just went to make, sure that all of the plastic on the top, of, and the plastic in the, at the. bottom of, the planster was. aligned that's the mesh I used, to line the mesh with pin snips and then, bend it and staple it. into place and unroll the plastic Sheeting and cut it with scissors I'm, just gonna. line the inside of the plant with this and this is going to making it. waterproof, and keep the moisture off of the wood and that, a staple the plastic... sheeting, right into, the, wood with the staple gun and that I did this poked some holes in the wood to make it, more durable. and they're naturally more resistant to rot decay so now, I pre- drilled the holes and. they are pre-dilled and ready, for me to screw them into the. hole I did, put them in the holes with a, screwdriver. I build them with, soil so I did the test fit now the, will, planters are. aligned and I. aligned I was, ready to put them with, soil.
